The Thai and Chinese Taipei teams have pulled out of the Asian Team Badminton Championships to be held in Sayanan from May 15 to 20 due to the impact of COVID-19.The Thai and Chinese Taipei teams have pulled out of the Asian Team Badminton Championships to be held in Sayanan from May 15 to 20 due to the impact of COVID-19.Earlier, China decided not to send a team to the Asian Team Badminton Championships due to strict quarantine measures.The Asian team Badminton games were to be staged at the Sita City Convention and Exhibition Centre in Sayanam.This left only 8 teams to participate in the Asian Team Badminton Tournament and The Asian section of the Tonyou Cup. In addition to the host Malaysia, the other 7 teams are Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, India, China Hong Kong, Singapore and Kazakhstan.The four semi-finalists of the men’s and women’s teams will advance directly to the Final of this year’s Tonyo Cup, which will be held in Bangkok from May 8 to 15.At the last Asian team Games in Manila, the Malaysian men’s team reached the final and lost 3-1 to Indonesia, while the women’s team reached the semi-finals and lost 3-0 to eventual champion Japan.
