Tehran, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) –Iran is waiting for the United States to take concrete steps to lift sanctions against Iran and resume implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Khatibzadeh said Wednesday.Khatibzadeh said at a regular press conference that Iran hopes the U.S. side will make “necessary decisions” as negotiators of the Iranian nuclear deal are expected to return to Vienna, the Austrian capital, on August 8.The lifting of sanctions against Iran remains a key issue.Iran hopes the United States will return to Vienna “with a clear agenda” on the lifting of sanctions against Iran and put into action its stated willingness for positive dialogue.Khatibzad said Iran seeks a credible deal and that the United States should pay a price for its withdrawal from the nuclear deal and violation of U.N. Security Council Resolution 2231.European parties to the Iran nuclear deal should respond to us “inaction and capriciousness” over its implementation. In July 2015, Iran reached a nuclear deal with the United States, The United Kingdom, France, Russia, China and Germany. In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal, and subsequently renewed and added a series of sanctions against Iran.Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of some provisions of the nuclear deal, but promised that the measures taken are “reversible”.The parties to the Iran nuclear agreement will hold talks in Vienna in April 2021 to discuss the resumption of the implementation of the agreement between the United States and Iran. The United States is indirectly involved in the negotiations. The eighth round of negotiations started in Vienna on 27 December 2021 and was suspended on 28 January this year.(after)
